Now, the Marvel Liquid Macro top coat? My favourite top coat of all time, unsurpassed by anything in the past couple of years. So, I've been giving this base coat a try for the past two years on and off with different polishes and most often paired with the Marvel top coat. I've tried dehydrating my nails, different kinds of prep methods and all kinds of ways to give this base coat the very best chance it deserves based on all the reviews I've read. But, just.... no. It's not a bad base coat. But it's not excellent either, not for my needs.
The great:
Bring It On base coat dries down amazingly quickly, so if you're in a rush and have to have your mani on asap, this is your base, get it if you're the kind of person who doesn't have the patience for base coat and waiting for it to dry.
It also does what it says, and prevents any and all staining. I've tried with the worst kinds of nail stainers and my nails have been prefectly stain-free after removal.
Even the smell ain't bad (not in comparison to the Marvel top coat which is the smelliest of smelly nail polishes), and after some testing with older and newer, freshly opened bottles, I can say this base coat keeps pretty well, too, as long as you take care to clean the opening to keep it as airtight as you can, just like with any other polish. I'd say even if you are someone who doesn't paint their nails all the time, this polish will probably keep for a good few years if you store it properly and shake well before use, so the price is excellent for how much product you get in the bottle.
The not-so-good:
So, I always have a near perfect manicure on. How? Well, by using great products that last for a long time, and doing my nails once a week or every two weeks, if the polish is great and hasn't chipped off and I'm not bored yet. I usually get bored by two weeks latest, or annoyed with the growth. If I want my mani to last a long time and want to give it the best longevity, I use a great base coat and the Marvel top coat. I'm not kidding, go buy the top coat now, I'll wait. One coat of that top coat is magic already. Two coats and your manicure will last you as long as you need it to, with the caveat that your personal body chemistry and lifestyle and job will affect the longevity of any manicure and not even the Marvel top coat can save your nails from your life.
Also, fun fact, you can use almost any polish, from the cheapest drug store to the most expensive nail polish ever, and have a great long-lasting manicure as long as your base and top coats are excellent. I would not say this Bring It On base coat is excellent simply because no matter how I prep my nails, I have not gotten my nails to last me over 4-5 days without chipping, ever. In a couple of years. Now, do most people keep their manicures on for this long, chip free? I don't know. But I do know some supermarket and drugstore brand base coats have given me better lasting manicures than this base coat, and I'm so sad about that. Do other base coats dry as quickly? No. Are they as effortless as Bring It On base coat? No. But I'm the kind of person who spends time on their nails, because I find it therapeutic to just sit and do nails and nail art for a few hours at a time, so I don't need a base coat that dries down in a snap, I need a base that keeps my mani on for as long as I need it to, which is a week, minimum, for my standards. This base coat doesn't give me a great, long-lasting base for my manicures, because I don't consider 3-5 days very long at all. But maybe you do, and this base coat will save your mani.
Would I recommend this base coat?
Yes, if you're the kind of person who has a mani for 3-4 days and then takes it off, or doesn't mind chipping after that. I've gifted some of this base coat to friends who've loved how quick drying and effective it is, knowing they won't mind the chipping because they get chipping anyway or they take off their mani after a few days anyway.
I would not recommend this base coat without mentioning my chipping problems to anyone who loves to keep one mani on for a longer.
